The Guilty

If we weren't staying so close to the Jerusalem Theater I doubt we'd have seen this film. It's Danish. But the JT is actually a theater complex. Most evenings one of its venues will be showing a movie we're willing to try.

In the Guilty almost all the action is off screen. The protagonist sits at a telephone answering 911 calls. He moves to a closed office. In the end he walks down a hall. The action is all at the other end of the phoneline, and on his face.
Recently we also saw the Mexican film Roma (about neither Rome nor the Rom but rather about a family in a Mexico City neighborhood called Roma) and an Israeli film Red Heifer (good but not entirely clear).
We did pass on the Japanese film with only Hebrew subtitles. Maybe on an evening when we feel particularly alert.
